SATSANG
Satsang or association with a devotee means engaging in spiritual activities like listening to Srimad Bhagwad and other Kathas, Chanting the Holy name of the Lord, singing Bhajan-Kirtan and having Prasad together in a group.
When we start practicing spiritual life, we embark on a journey towards the destination of the Ultimate truth, our eternal Lord. Satsang/Association plays a very important role in shaping the character of devotees. It helps devotees in inculcating habits which are required for the path of self-realization or Bhakti. Also, it helps devotees in quitting any unwanted habits or practices which are not suitable for spiritual life. We become like the people we mix with. To become spiritual, we need to associate regularly with the devotees.
Great saint Sri Narottama das Thakur sings
gangaara parasha hoile pashcate paavan
darshane pavitra koro-ei tomaara gun
“After bathing in the waters of the sacred Ganges many times, one becomes purified, but just by the sight of you (Vaishnava Goswami), the fallen souls are purified. This is your great power.”
In Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.19.8 Suta Goswami says ‘svayam hi tirthaani punanti santah’ – which means sages could verily sanctify a place of pilgrimage just by their presence.
In CC Madhya 22.54 Lord Chaitnya Mahaprabhu says
‘sādhu-saṅga’, ‘sādhu-saṅga’ — sarva-śāstre kaya
lava-mātra sādhu-saṅge sarva-siddhi haya
“The verdict of all revealed scriptures is that by even a moment’s association with a pure devotee, one can attain all success.”
Sri Malook Peeth conducts Kathas/Satsang throughout the year around different places in India for the benefit of the society. Audios and Videos are made available on our Audio and Video pages for the benefit of devotees who cannot travel. Conducting all these activities is a costly affair and our organization depends on the donation by devotees for conducting these programs.
Please check our Katha schedule page for getting the details of upcoming Kathas.
